Barbecue is about family, friends and fun. It is the original American Slow Food and it’s various styles and regional variations are enjoyed worldwide.

Was given a class at the Cave Creek BBQ School for Christmas. I went by myself and along with 8 others spent the majority of the day asking Pitmaster Mike every question under the sun and no question was too elementary. Mike walked through how to cook different styles and the tools to use. Some meat was already cooking and others Mike prepared and cooked while we learning and the end of the class we enjoyed delicious BBQ. I highly recommend!! It's obvious that he's been around the biz for quite some time. If you fancy BBQ and want to get better at it, you should come to this class. Come hungry, you will get to eat a lot as well.

I got a class for 2 for Dave at Christmas. This place is amazing. We got pulled pork, pork ribs, a whole chicken and pizza. Ours was a class of 5. Usually they’re about 10 to 12. Everything was delicious and we learned the details that will make a difference in our next attempt at bbq. He also does parties. You bring the party and he bbqs for your guests. We were looking for a fun activity and a cooking class. We made the right choice. It was a great afternoon filled with delicious food and a lot of great information. I am an experienced cook but haven’t had a lot of time around the grill. I wanted to be comfortable when I asked friends over for dinner. Mike is a wealth of bbq information. He makes you feel very comfortable, uses several different types of grills, even gives you a handout when you leave class. I would highly recommend Mike’s Barbecue Masterclass for an individual or for a group.

I learned about Cave Creek BBQ School from the concierge at our hotel. We were looking for an activity for eight of us on our last day in Phoenix, and she recommended this, as we were largely "foodies." What a great suggestion! The 'school' is actually on a shady residential acre in Cave Creek, so it felt like we were in a friends backyard. They allow and encourage guests to bring their own favorite barbecue beverages, including wine and beer so it was a festive atmosphere and Mick added the class just for us, so it was like a private lesson! All the food was exceptional,..two types of ribs, pulled pork,chicken, tri tip..even grilled veggies. While I had my doubts when we arrived, we all agreed it was fun, educational and delicious way to spend an afternoon.
